This Door
This Door
you see this door
weathered and worn
it has protected
from many a storm
the handle's dull
it's lost its shine
from dearest friends
visiting oft a time
the key hole once
so crisp and clean
now worn down
from life's routine
this door brings
a sort of cheer
all troubling leaves
when it appears
beyond this door
lies comfort, peace
a quiet rest
that ne'er will cease
this door has
a work to do
to gladly greet
bid reluctant adieu
this door lets in the good
and shuts out the bad
it brings comfort to
the weary and sad
some would say
to get one new
something better,
or paint it blue
but dear friends,
I just can't agree
because this door is special-
it belongs to me.
